Lorem Ipsum Generator

Lorem ipsum is dummy Latin text that fills a layout before the real copy is ready. This generator makes 1 to 100 paragraphs, sentences or words of it. In paragraph and sentence mode the text always opens with the classic line "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit."

The words come from "De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum", a book by Cicero written in 45 BC. Over time the text was cut up and changed, so it looks like Latin but does not mean anything. That is the point. People looking at a mockup notice the fonts, spacing and layout instead of reading the words.

Each sentence here has 8 to 19 words, picked at random from a list of about 100 Latin words. Each paragraph holds 4 to 7 sentences, and the first one also gets the classic opening line. This mix of lengths gives a ragged right edge, much like real writing. Word mode starts with "Lorem" and then gives exactly the number of words you ask for. That is handy when you need to fill a heading or button of a set length.

The output is random, so every click on Generate gives new text. Placeholder text should never go live, so search your pages for "lorem" before you publish. To check how long a block is, paste it into the Word Counter. If you need the same phrase over and over instead, use the Text Repeater.
