How Many Working Days Are in a Date Range?

This tool counts the working days (Monday to Friday) between two dates, with both dates included. September 2026, for example, has 22 working days and 8 weekend days in its 30 days. You also get the Saturday and Sunday counts, the total calendar days and the number of full weeks.

Working days matter whenever a deadline is set in business days. Examples include payment terms, shipping estimates, notice periods and project plans. A standard year has about 260 or 261 weekdays, and 2026 has 261.

The count is inclusive, which is how most people read a range like "from Monday to Friday". That span is 5 working days, not 4. This is one day more than the Date Difference Calculator gives, since that tool leaves out the end date. You can enter the dates in either order. If the start is after the end, the tool counts the same span and shows a note.

Public holidays are optional. Switch on Exclude public holidays and pick a country, and the tool takes out the holidays that fall on a weekday in your range. It lists each one it removed. For the US, November 2026 has 21 weekdays, and Veterans Day and Thanksgiving bring that down to 19. Pick a region to use its holidays instead. In California the day after Thanksgiving is a holiday too, which leaves 18. Substitute days count on the weekday they are given, and bank holidays stay in unless you switch them on.

The holidays are computed in your browser by date-holidays, an open source project with data from volunteers and Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 3.0), so nothing is sent anywhere. The data can miss one-off holidays and does not know your employer's own days off, so adjust for those by hand. Check official sources for payroll or legal use. The weekend is always Saturday and Sunday, so the count will be off for places with a Friday and Saturday weekend. To move a date forward by calendar days instead, use Add and Subtract Days.

2026 has 261 weekdays from Monday to Friday, before any public holidays are removed. By month, the count runs from 20 in February to 23 in July and December. With the US federal holidays switched on, 11 fall on weekdays, counting Friday, July 3 for Independence Day, which leaves 250 working days. Other countries give a different total.
Only when you turn it on. Switch on Exclude public holidays and pick a country, and the tool works out its holidays for every year in your range. It removes full-day public holidays that fall on a weekday, including substitute days, and lists them. Pick a region for local holidays, and switch on bank holidays if you get those off. Part-day holidays are not removed.
Yes, both are counted. From Monday, September 7 to Friday, September 11, 2026 gives 5 working days. If your contract says "within 10 business days after" a date, the day itself usually does not count. In that case start the range on the next day.
This tool counts days in a range rather than finding an end date. Try an end date about two weeks out and adjust it until the working day count reads 10, keeping in mind that both ends count. Then allow for any holidays in between.
