The archive's central directory is read in the browser to build the tree; nothing is uploaded, and folders are shown even when the ZIP has no folder entries.

Opening a ZIP File Without Extra Software

The ZIP Extractor opens a .zip file in your browser and lists everything inside it. You can save one file at a time or click Extract All to save every file. Archives up to 100 MB are supported, and nothing is uploaded.

Once the archive loads, you see a tree of its folders and files, with folders listed first. Each file shows a type label and its size. Above the tree are totals for files, folders and entries, plus the compressed and uncompressed size of the archive. Some ZIP tools do not store folder entries, only file paths. The extractor rebuilds those folders anyway, so the tree always matches the paths.

A few limits are worth knowing. The tool reads standard ZIP archives, which use the Store and Deflate methods. Password-protected ZIPs are not supported, and the tool says so if you load one. Formats such as .rar, .7z and .tar.gz need a desktop program. Files are not previewed in the page, so download a file to open it.

Extract All saves the files one after another. Your browser may ask whether this site can download multiple files, so allow it. Each file is saved under its own name without its folder path, so files with the same name in different folders will get the name your browser picks for duplicates. If the folder layout matters, save those files one by one.

No. Encrypted archives are not supported, and the tool shows a message saying the ZIP is password protected. Use a desktop program such as 7-Zip, or the archive tool built into your operating system, which will ask for the password.
No, only standard .zip archives. RAR, 7z, TAR and GZ files use different formats. Open them with a desktop program such as 7-Zip, which reads all of these. If a .zip file will not open here, it may be damaged, and the tool reports that it is invalid or corrupted.
Browsers save downloads as single files, so Extract All saves each file under its own name without the folder path. Everything lands in your downloads folder. If you need the original folder layout, extract the archive with the tool built into your operating system instead.
Up to 100 MB. The archive is read into memory in your browser, so large files may take a moment, especially on phones. For bigger archives, use a desktop extraction tool. The uncompressed size shown in the totals tells you how much space the files will take once saved.
