Flip a Coin

This coin flipper gives you heads or tails with an exact 50/50 chance on every toss. Press Flip, watch the coin spin for a moment, and the answer appears.

You can toss 1 to 9 coins at once. Each coin gets its own fresh random number, so one coin never affects another. The Statistics panel keeps a running count of total flips, heads, tails and the heads to tails ratio, with percentages. The History list shows your last 20 flips and the time of each one. Clear wipes the history and the totals so you can start again.

A fair coin has no memory. If you just got five heads in a row, the next flip is still 50/50. Streaks feel odd, but they are normal. Flip 9 coins at once and the chance that every one shows heads is 1 in 512. Runs of three or four in a row, though, turn up all the time in a long session. Over hundreds of flips the heads share drifts toward 50%, yet it rarely lands on exactly 50%.

A coin toss works best for small choices where both options are fine, like who goes first or where to eat. It also makes a neutral tiebreaker, since nobody can argue with the coin.
