The watermark is drawn on top of each page with partial transparency and rotated around the page center.

  1. Upload the PDF file you want to watermark.
  2. Enter your watermark text, such as "Draft" or "Confidential".
  3. Choose a font (Helvetica, Helvetica Bold, Times Roman, or Courier) and a color, and set the font size.
  4. Adjust the opacity and rotation sliders to control the watermark appearance - diagonal angles around 45 degrees are common.
  5. Check the live preview to see how the centered watermark text will look.

How to Watermark a PDF

PDF Watermark stamps a line of text across every page of a PDF, such as DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or your company name. The text is centered on each page, and you control its look.

The defaults give the classic diagonal stamp. That is CONFIDENTIAL in gray Helvetica Bold at 48 points, 30% opacity, tilted at -45 degrees. You can change the text and choose from four fonts and seven colors. The size runs from 12 to 120 points, opacity from 5% to 100%, and the angle from -90 to 90 degrees. A live preview shows the result before you apply it.

Opacity matters most. At 20% to 40%, the mark is clear but the page underneath stays easy to read. At 100%, it hides whatever it covers. Because the watermark always sits in the center, a smaller size or lower opacity keeps key content visible.

A text watermark is a label, not a lock. It sits on top of the page as normal PDF text, so the words under it stay selectable. Someone with a PDF editor could also remove it. To limit copying or editing, protect the file afterwards with PDF Protect. For a logo on photos, use Image Watermark, which supports image overlays.
